Susmita from East Kilbride has used the app to socialise, explore her local area and donate to charity.
Here’s what she said about using BetterPoints:
“I came across BetterPoints through a campaign on Facebook. I needed a bit of motivation to walk around more and BetterPoints helped me to get that little boost I needed.
I was the same with cycling too - I started cycling with lots of enthusiasm but then over time, I got bored of cycling by myself. Then I came across a local cycling group that fits exactly what I was looking for and I joined instantly, and the app has helped motivate me too.
I have also changed the way I travel since joining. I was opting to drive or get a taxi even if I had to go out for groceries, but that’s all changed. Now, I use the bus for my commute to work and I walk for shopping around my area.
I found that if you use the car for short journeys, you are missing a lot of experiences like meeting new folks around your area and making friends. By not taking the car, I’ve discovered some of the beautiful places in South Lanarkshire - Langland Moss, Calderglen Country Park, James Hamilton Heritage Park to name just a few.
I like the sense of achievement through BetterPoints and redeeming my points for charity, which I’m also hoping to do in the future too.”
