Tina lives in East Kilbride and works primarily from home since Covid. She has used the app to be more engaged on her walks and with her travel choices.

Here’s what she said about using the app:

“I heard about Think, Move, Breathe through South Lanarkshire Council’s social media channels and I thought, why not join so my walks can earn me coffees? Quite often  the places I go to there’s an offer of a coffee at a café so it sounded great.

I’m more likely to leave the car at home since downloading BetterPoints. Now I’ll walk to the shops instead. We have two cars, but I’ve noticed since downloading the app, I’ve been thinking whether we actually need two cars, or can we make it work with one?

As well as how I travel, I’m also more conscious of where I go for walks. I took part in a challenge over the New Year to visit 5 nature reserves, so rather than just walking around my estate, I chose to go and spend time somewhere different. Because I’d walk to get there too, it made my walk longer which was great.

I definitely feel the improvement in my mental health after a really good walk. I have a dog so I was out anyway, but I think in the past I might have been guilty of taking her to the park, and then maybe going on my phone and checking work emails while she ran round. Now though, I’m thinking I need to get my steps in and walk to earn my tickets so I put the phone down and be present while I’m on the walk. Even though I was walking anyway, the quality of my walks have improved since downloading the app.

Well done to Tina, by sharing her story she is our Think, Move, Breathe Leave the Car Star. Want to be like Kelly and hundreds of others across South Lanarkshire earning rewards for their sustainable journeys? Scan the QR code below or tap the buttons at the bottom of the page:
